The Golden West Regional Fly-In |
The purpose of Golden West is to promote aviation
education and safety by holding an annual Regional Fly-in. Golden
West strives to present aviation at its best in a venue that provides
a fun and educational outing for the entire family.
Some of the activities you will find at the Golden West
Regional Fly-In include:
-
A close up look at hundreds of
aircraft including, homebuilts, antiques, aerobatic, ultralights,
hot air balloons, racers, WWII warbirds and current military
aircraft. If it flies it comes to Golden West. Only at a Fly-in
can you get this close to this variety of aircraft. Talk to the
owner/pilots, peek inside and maybe even take a ride!
-
See new aircraft from General Aviation, Kit and Sport
Plane manufacturers.
-
For Kid’s there are hands-on workshops where they
learn about the mechanics of flight, construction projects where
they experience how airplanes are made, and for those kids 8-17,
free Young Eagle rides where they live the dream of flight.
-
Exciting aerial demonstrations and low-level fly-bys
each day.
-
An aerobatic airshow on Saturday with lots of smoke
and noise and thrills.
The latest from avionics manufacturers, in aviation
software.
-
Buy aircraft accessories, tools and complete plans
for airplanes.
-
Forums by aviation experts. Talk with authors and war
heroes.
-
See the Eagles of Liberty fly on Sunday. A showcase

Golden West Regional
Fly-In is the youngest of the nine Regional Fly-ins. The first Golden
West Fly-in was in 1998 at the former Castle Air Force Base near Merced,
CA. In 2000 the event was relocated to the Sacramento Executive airport
to provide access for more people. The final move to the new site at
Yuba County Airport in Marysville provides access for a large number of
people and plenty of space to accommodate all of the elements listed
above. It also gives the Fly-in room to grow.
The planning and operation of the annual Golden West Regional Fly-In is accomplished by hundreds
of volunteers from all walks of life. If you are interested in finding out how you can help make this
fly-in the top aviation event on the West Coast, please take a look at our
Volunteer Opportunities page. Or, contact one of the Coordinators on our
Fly-In Committees list.
